Naya M.
Finally found a dentist that I love & my kids are comfortable with. I recommend them to everyone I know!
Jillianne O.
Got braces for a 2nd time as an adult. I am blown away with how comfortable the staff always made me feel being an adult with braces. Half the staff had them as well! Also, the staff always went well above and beyond with my kids. Most of the time I would have to bring my 4 yr old and 2 yr old while I was pregnant with my 3rd and they had no problem with them sitting on my lap and even brought fidget toys in for them or let them play with gloves. Whenever I didn’t bring the kids they would ask where they were and seemed bummed that they weren’t there. I still had braces when I had my 3rd baby and again, everyone was so wonderful when I came in with my whole clan. Thankyou for making braces as an adult a somewhat enjoyable experience!
Michelle S.
The staff is always so friendly. Explaining each step of my son’s treatment. We love Bridge City Braces!
Sarah M.
The team here is so supportive and the appointments are on time! Love coming here!

With locations in McCandless and Cranberry Township, PA, Bridge City Braces offers exceptional orthodontic services.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
The duration of orthodontic treatment varies depending on individual needs, but typically ranges from 18 to 36 months. Factors such as the complexity of the case, type of braces used, and patient compliance can influence the length of treatment. Regular appointments and following the orthodontist's instructions can help achieve the best results in the shortest time possible.
What types of braces are available?
There are several types of braces available, including traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, lingual braces, and clear aligners like Invisalign. Each type has its own benefits and considerations, so it's best to consult with an orthodontist to determine the most suitable option for your specific needs.
Can braces address all alignment issues?
Braces can address various alignment issues, including crooked teeth, overcrowding, gaps, and bite problems. However, severe cases may require additional orthodontic treatments or surgery. Consult with an orthodontist to determine the best course of action for your specific alignment concerns.
Are there age restrictions for braces?
There are no specific age restrictions for braces. Both children and adults can benefit from orthodontic treatment to achieve a straighter smile and improved oral health. Consult with an orthodontist to determine the best treatment plan based on individual needs and goals.
What is the cost of braces?
The cost of braces can vary depending on the type of treatment needed, the duration of treatment, and the specific orthodontic practice. Typically, traditional metal braces can range from $3,000 to $7,000, while clear aligners like Invisalign may cost between $4,000 and $8,000. It's best to schedule a consultation with an orthodontist to get an accurate estimate based on your individual needs.
How are braces installed on teeth?
Braces are installed by first cleaning and drying the teeth, then applying adhesive to bond the brackets. Next, archwires are placed through the brackets, and elastic bands secure them. Adjustments are made periodically to shift teeth into the desired position for a straighter smile.
What maintenance do braces require?
Braces require regular maintenance, including brushing after meals, flossing daily, and attending scheduled adjustments with the orthodontist. Patients should avoid certain foods that can damage braces and follow any additional care instructions provided by their orthodontist for optimal results.
Are braces covered by dental insurance?
Braces may be partially covered by dental insurance, depending on the plan. It's essential to check with your insurance provider to understand coverage details, including deductibles, limits, and any out-of-pocket expenses. Some plans may cover a percentage of orthodontic treatment costs, while others may have specific age restrictions or requirements.
How often are braces adjustments needed?
Braces adjustments are typically needed every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the individual treatment plan and progress. Your orthodontist will schedule these appointments to ensure your teeth are moving correctly and to make any necessary adjustments for optimal results. Regular adjustments are crucial for successful orthodontic treatment.
Can braces fix an overbite or underbite?
Braces can help correct mild to moderate overbites and underbites by gradually shifting the teeth and jaw into proper alignment. Severe cases may require additional orthodontic treatment or surgery for optimal results. Consult with an orthodontist to determine the best course of action for your specific situation.
What are the benefits of braces?
Braces can improve dental alignment, correct bite issues, enhance oral health, boost confidence, and prevent future dental problems. They are customizable, effective, and can lead to a beautiful, straight smile. Regular orthodontic appointments ensure proper progress and adjustments for optimal results.
How to prepare for getting braces?
To prepare for getting braces, follow these steps: 1. Schedule a consultation with an orthodontist. 2. Discuss treatment options and expectations. 3. Prepare for any necessary extractions or dental work. 4. Stock up on soft foods for the initial adjustment period. 5. Practice good oral hygiene habits.
Are there alternatives to traditional braces?
Yes, alternatives to traditional braces include clear aligners like Invisalign, lingual braces, and ceramic braces. These options offer more discreet treatment while still effectively straightening teeth. It's best to consult with an orthodontist to determine the most suitable option for individual needs.
How to manage discomfort from braces?
To manage discomfort from braces, try these tips: 1. Use orthodontic wax on any irritating wires or brackets. 2. Rinse with warm salt water to soothe soreness. 3. Take over-the-counter pain relievers as needed. 4. Stick to soft foods initially. 5. Follow your orthodontist's instructions for care.
What foods should be avoided with braces?
When wearing braces, it's best to avoid sticky, hard, or chewy foods to prevent damage. Foods to avoid include gum, caramel, hard candies, nuts, popcorn, and ice. Opt for softer options like yogurt, pasta, and soft fruits to protect your braces and teeth.
How to clean teeth with braces?
Cleaning teeth with braces requires special care. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Angle the brush towards the gum line and clean around brackets and wires. Floss with a floss threader or orthodontic floss. Rinse with mouthwash for extra protection. Regular dental check-ups are essential.
What is the follow-up care for braces?
After getting braces, follow-up care typically involves regular appointments for adjustments, monitoring progress, and ensuring proper oral hygiene. Patients may need to wear retainers post-treatment to maintain results. It's essential to follow orthodontist instructions, maintain good oral hygiene, and attend scheduled appointments for optimal outcomes.
Can I play sports with braces?
Yes, you can play sports with braces. It's recommended to wear a mouthguard to protect your braces and teeth. Soft foods and proper oral hygiene are essential. Consult your orthodontist for specific guidelines based on your treatment.
What should I do in case of a braces emergency?
In case of a braces emergency, contact your orthodontist immediately for guidance. If a wire is poking or a bracket is loose, try using orthodontic wax to alleviate discomfort. Avoid cutting the wire yourself. Rinse with warm saltwater for temporary relief.
Can braces correct jaw misalignments?
Braces can help correct minor jaw misalignments by adjusting the position of the teeth, which can sometimes improve the alignment of the jaw. However, for more severe cases, additional treatments or orthodontic appliances may be necessary to address jaw misalignments effectively. It's essential to consult with an orthodontist to determine the best course of action for individual cases.
Are braces necessary for dental health?
Braces are often necessary for dental health to correct misalignments, improve bite function, and prevent issues like tooth decay and gum disease. Orthodontic treatment can enhance oral health, overall well-being, and boost self-confidence. Consult with an orthodontist to determine if braces are needed for your specific dental needs.
How to choose the right braces?
When choosing the right braces, consider factors like treatment options, experience of orthodontists, location convenience, and patient reviews. Schedule consultations to discuss treatment plans, costs, and timeline. Ask about types of braces available, such as traditional metal, ceramic, or clear aligners, to find the best fit for your needs.
Can adults benefit from wearing braces?
Adults can benefit from wearing braces to improve their smile, correct misalignments, and enhance oral health. Orthodontic treatment can address issues like overcrowding, spacing, and bite alignment, leading to a more confident smile and better overall dental well-being. Consult with an orthodontist to explore personalized options for adult braces.
How does smoking affect braces treatment?
Smoking can significantly impact braces treatment by slowing down the overall progress. It can lead to discoloration of the teeth, increased risk of gum disease, and delayed healing of oral tissues. Additionally, smoking can weaken bone density, affecting the effectiveness of orthodontic adjustments and potentially prolonging the treatment duration.
What are self-ligating braces?
Self-ligating braces are orthodontic appliances that use a specialized clip or bracket to hold the archwire in place, eliminating the need for elastic or metal ties. This design allows for easier adjustments, reduced friction, and potentially faster treatment times compared to traditional braces.
When should one start considering braces?
Consider braces when teeth are misaligned, crowded, or bite issues arise. Early evaluation by an orthodontist around age 7 can detect problems and plan treatment effectively. Treatment timing varies, but starting early can prevent more severe issues later on.
Are there risks associated with braces?
Yes, there are risks associated with braces, including tooth decay, gum disease, and potential damage to tooth enamel. It's essential to maintain good oral hygiene, attend regular check-ups, and follow orthodontist instructions to minimize these risks and achieve the best results.
How to deal with braces-related speech issues?
If you experience speech issues with braces, practice speaking slowly, enunciating clearly, and reading aloud to adjust. Stay hydrated, use orthodontic wax if needed, and be patient as your mouth adapts. Regularly practice speaking and consult your orthodontist if problems persist.
