Naya M.
Finally found a dentist that I love & my kids are comfortable with. I recommend them to everyone I know!
Jillianne O.
Got braces for a 2nd time as an adult. I am blown away with how comfortable the staff always made me feel being an adult with braces. Half the staff had them as well! Also, the staff always went well above and beyond with my kids. Most of the time I would have to bring my 4 yr old and 2 yr old while I was pregnant with my 3rd and they had no problem with them sitting on my lap and even brought fidget toys in for them or let them play with gloves. Whenever I didn’t bring the kids they would ask where they were and seemed bummed that they weren’t there. I still had braces when I had my 3rd baby and again, everyone was so wonderful when I came in with my whole clan. Thankyou for making braces as an adult a somewhat enjoyable experience!
Michelle S.
The staff is always so friendly. Explaining each step of my son’s treatment. We love Bridge City Braces!
Sarah M.
The team here is so supportive and the appointments are on time! Love coming here!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do dental bridges look weird after braces?
Dental bridges can be customized to match your natural teeth, ensuring a seamless appearance post-braces. Proper care and maintenance will help them blend in with your smile. Consult with your orthodontist for personalized advice on dental bridge options.
Can you get braces if you have a bridge?
Yes, you can still get braces if you have a bridge. Your orthodontist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that accommodates the bridge and addresses your orthodontic needs effectively. It's essential to communicate openly with your orthodontist about any existing dental work to ensure the best outcome.
What are the benefits of braces?
Braces can improve oral health, correct misalignments, enhance aesthetics, and boost self-confidence. They help with bite issues, prevent dental problems, and promote overall well-being. Additionally, braces can lead to better speech, easier chewing, and long-term dental stability.
How long does braces treatment take?
The duration of braces treatment varies depending on individual needs, typically lasting between 18 to 36 months. Factors such as alignment complexity, jaw growth, and adherence to orthodontic instructions can influence treatment length. Regular appointments and proper care are essential for successful outcomes.
Are braces necessary before bridges?
Braces are often necessary before bridges to align teeth properly for a stable foundation. Proper alignment ensures the bridge fits correctly and functions effectively. Consult with an orthodontist to determine the best treatment plan for your specific dental needs.
Can braces affect existing dental bridges?
Braces can impact existing dental bridges by potentially causing them to shift or become loose during orthodontic treatment. It's essential to consult with your orthodontist and dentist to assess the situation and determine the best course of action to maintain the stability of your dental bridges while undergoing orthodontic treatment.
How do braces impact oral hygiene?
Braces can make oral hygiene more challenging due to food getting stuck in brackets and wires. Proper brushing and flossing techniques are crucial to prevent plaque buildup, cavities, and gum disease. Regular dental check-ups and cleanings are essential during orthodontic treatment to maintain good oral health.
Are there alternatives to braces?
Yes, alternatives to traditional braces include Invisalign for teens and adults, which are clear aligners that are virtually invisible. Other options may include lingual braces, ceramic braces, and clear aligner systems like ClearCorrect. It's best to consult with an orthodontist to determine the most suitable option for your specific needs.
What maintenance do braces require?
Braces require regular maintenance, including brushing after meals, flossing daily, and attending scheduled orthodontic appointments for adjustments. Patients should avoid hard, sticky foods and follow the orthodontist's instructions for rubber bands or other appliances.
How do braces align crooked teeth?
Braces work by applying continuous pressure over time to move teeth into the correct position. The brackets and wires guide the teeth's movement, allowing them to align properly. This process helps correct crooked teeth, spacing issues, and bite alignment for a straighter smile.
How soon can bridges be fitted after braces?
Bridges can typically be fitted after braces are removed, allowing time for the teeth to stabilize. It's essential to consult with an orthodontist and a dentist to determine the best timing for bridge placement post-braces to ensure optimal results and oral health.
Do braces cause discomfort?
Braces may cause discomfort initially as the mouth adjusts. This discomfort typically fades within a few days to a week. Over-the-counter pain relief can help manage any soreness. Regular adjustments may cause temporary discomfort but are crucial for effective treatment.
How to manage braces discomfort?
To manage braces discomfort, try these tips: Rinse with warm saltwater Use orthodontic wax on wires Take over-the-counter pain relievers Eat soft foods Avoid hard, sticky foods Stay consistent with oral hygiene
Are braces suitable for all ages?
Braces are suitable for individuals of all ages, not just teens. Adults can also benefit from orthodontic treatment. Invisalign is a popular option for adults seeking a more discreet solution. Consult with an orthodontist to determine the best treatment plan for your age and needs.
What are the risks of braces?
Braces may pose risks such as tooth decay, gum disease, and demineralization. Other risks include mouth sores, discomfort, and potential allergic reactions to materials. Regular dental hygiene and following orthodontist instructions can help mitigate these risks.
How often to visit orthodontist with braces?
During orthodontic treatment with braces, it is typically recommended to visit the orthodontist every 4 to 8 weeks for adjustments and progress checks. These regular visits help ensure the braces are working effectively and allow the orthodontist to make any necessary modifications for optimal results.
Can braces correct overbites or underbites?
Yes, braces can correct overbites and underbites by gradually shifting the teeth and jaw into proper alignment. Orthodontic treatment, including braces, can effectively address these bite issues over time, improving both function and aesthetics. Regular orthodontic visits are essential for monitoring progress and making necessary adjustments.
Are ceramic braces less noticeable?
Ceramic braces are less noticeable than traditional metal braces due to their tooth-colored appearance. They blend in with the teeth, making them a popular choice for those seeking a more discreet orthodontic treatment option.
When should one start wearing braces?
Orthodontic treatment typically begins between the ages of 9 and 14, but the ideal age can vary. An orthodontic evaluation by age 7 can help determine the best time to start wearing braces. Early intervention can address issues before they worsen, leading to a more effective treatment plan.
How to clean teeth with braces?
Cleaning teeth with braces requires special care. Here's how to do it effectively: 1. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. 2. Angle the brush towards the gum line and brackets. 3. Clean between wires and teeth with floss threaders or interdental brushes. 4. Rinse with mouthwash for added protection. 5. Visit your orthodontist regularly for check-ups and cleanings.
Can braces prevent the need for bridges?
Braces can help align teeth, potentially reducing the need for bridges by improving overall dental alignment. However, braces alone may not always prevent the need for bridges, as individual dental conditions vary. Consult with an orthodontist and dentist for personalized advice on braces and bridge requirements.
What foods to avoid with braces?
When wearing braces, it's best to avoid sticky, hard, or chewy foods to prevent damage. Foods to avoid include: Hard candies Popcorn Chewy candies Ice Nuts Hard pretzels Sticky or hard chocolate Chewing gum
Will braces change facial structure?
Braces primarily straighten teeth and correct bite issues, not alter facial structure. However, they can improve alignment, which may subtly affect facial appearance by creating a more harmonious smile. Major facial changes are typically achieved through orthognathic surgery, not braces alone.
Can braces cause gum disease?
Braces can increase the risk of gum disease if proper oral hygiene is not maintained. Food particles and plaque can get trapped around the brackets and wires, leading to inflammation and potential gum issues. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups are crucial to prevent gum disease during orthodontic treatment.
How do braces close gaps?
Braces close gaps by applying continuous pressure to the teeth, gradually moving them into the desired position. This process stimulates bone remodeling, allowing the teeth to shift and close the gaps over time. Regular adjustments help ensure proper alignment and closing of the gaps.
Do braces interfere with speaking?
Braces may initially affect speech, causing minor lisps or changes in pronunciation. With practice, most people adjust and speak normally. Proper orthodontic care and adjustments can minimize speech interference during treatment.
Whats the cost of braces treatment?
The cost of braces treatment can vary depending on the type of braces, treatment duration, and individual needs. Factors such as insurance coverage and payment plans can also impact the overall cost. It's best to schedule a consultation with an orthodontist to receive a personalized treatment plan and cost estimate.
Can braces fix protruding teeth?
Braces can effectively fix protruding teeth by gradually shifting them into proper alignment. This orthodontic treatment helps address the positioning of teeth, improving both aesthetics and functionality over time. Consulting with an orthodontic specialist can determine the best approach for correcting protruding teeth with braces.
When are braces better than bridges?
Braces are typically recommended for correcting misaligned teeth, while bridges are used to replace missing teeth. Braces are better for straightening teeth, correcting bite issues, and improving overall oral health. Bridges are ideal for filling gaps caused by missing teeth, restoring function, and preventing surrounding teeth from shifting.
How to choose the right braces?
When choosing the right braces, consider factors like treatment goals, budget, lifestyle, and orthodontist recommendations. Options include traditional braces, Invisalign, ceramic braces, and lingual braces. Schedule a consultation to discuss the best choice for your needs.
