Naya M.
Finally found a dentist that I love & my kids are comfortable with. I recommend them to everyone I know!
Jillianne O.
Got braces for a 2nd time as an adult. I am blown away with how comfortable the staff always made me feel being an adult with braces. Half the staff had them as well! Also, the staff always went well above and beyond with my kids. Most of the time I would have to bring my 4 yr old and 2 yr old while I was pregnant with my 3rd and they had no problem with them sitting on my lap and even brought fidget toys in for them or let them play with gloves. Whenever I didn’t bring the kids they would ask where they were and seemed bummed that they weren’t there. I still had braces when I had my 3rd baby and again, everyone was so wonderful when I came in with my whole clan. Thankyou for making braces as an adult a somewhat enjoyable experience!
Michelle S.
The staff is always so friendly. Explaining each step of my son’s treatment. We love Bridge City Braces!
Sarah M.
The team here is so supportive and the appointments are on time! Love coming here!
Shane T.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose a good orthodontist?
When choosing an orthodontist, consider factors like experience, patient reviews, treatment options, and office atmosphere. Look for a specialist who offers free consultations, uses advanced technology, and has convenient locations. Ensure they prioritize patient care, have a friendly staff, and provide a comfortable experience.
Is orthodontic and orthodontist the same?
Orthodontic and orthodontist are not the same. Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with correcting teeth and jaws, while an orthodontist is a specialized dentist who focuses on orthodontic treatments.
How do you know if an orthodontist is good?
To determine if an orthodontist is good, consider factors such as patient reviews, experience, and the quality of results. Look for a practice with friendly staff, flexible scheduling, and a focus on patient care. Additionally, check for certifications, modern technology, and a comfortable office environment.
Are orthodontic prices negotiable?
Orthodontic prices are typically not negotiable, as they are based on the complexity of treatment and materials used. However, some practices offer payment plans or discounts for upfront payments. It's best to inquire about flexible financing options or promotions directly with the orthodontic office.
What qualifications should orthodontists have?
Orthodontists should have a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree, followed by completion of a specialized orthodontic residency program. Board certification and state licensure are essential. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating beautiful smiles are also important qualifications for orthodontists.
Can orthodontists correct bite issues?
Yes, orthodontists can correct bite issues through treatments like braces, Invisalign, and other orthodontic appliances. By addressing misalignments, overbites, underbites, and crossbites, orthodontists can improve the function and aesthetics of the bite, leading to better oral health and overall well-being.
How long does orthodontic treatment last?
Orthodontic treatment duration varies based on individual needs, typically lasting 18-24 months. Factors like complexity, compliance, and treatment type influence the timeline. Regular appointments and following orthodontist recommendations help achieve optimal results efficiently.
Are braces suitable for all ages?
Braces are suitable for individuals of all ages, not just children and teenagers. Adults can also benefit from orthodontic treatment to improve their smile and oral health. Consult with an orthodontic specialist to determine the best treatment options based on individual needs and goals.
What aftercare is needed post-braces?
Aftercare post-braces typically involves wearing retainers as instructed, maintaining good oral hygiene, attending follow-up appointments, and avoiding hard or sticky foods. Regular dental check-ups are essential to monitor the teeth alignment. Compliance with aftercare instructions ensures long-lasting results and a beautiful smile.
How often are orthodontic check-ups?
Orthodontic check-ups typically occur every 6-8 weeks to monitor progress, make adjustments, and ensure treatment is on track. Regular visits are crucial for successful orthodontic treatment and to address any issues promptly. It's essential to follow the orthodontist's recommended check-up schedule for optimal results.
What types of braces are available?
At Bridge City Braces, we offer a variety of braces options, including traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, and Invisalign clear aligners. Each type has its benefits, and our orthodontic specialists will help you choose the best option for your smile needs.
When should children see orthodontists?
Children should see orthodontists for an initial evaluation around the age of 7 to monitor growth and development, even if braces are not needed immediately. Early detection of orthodontic issues can lead to more effective treatment outcomes. Regular check-ups are essential for optimal oral health.
Can adults benefit from orthodontics?
Yes, adults can benefit from orthodontic treatment to improve their smile and overall oral health. Orthodontic options like Invisalign are popular among adults for discreet teeth straightening. Correcting misalignments can also help with bite issues, jaw pain, and overall confidence. Consult with an orthodontist for personalized recommendations.
How to maintain braces effectively?
To maintain braces effectively, follow these tips: Brush after every meal Floss daily Avoid hard, sticky foods Attend regular orthodontic appointments Use orthodontic wax for discomfort
What is the cost of braces?
The cost of braces can vary depending on the type of treatment needed and the duration of the orthodontic care. Factors such as the complexity of the case, the type of braces chosen (traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, or Invisalign), and any additional procedures required can all impact the overall cost. It is best to schedule a consultation with an orthodontist to receive a personalized treatment plan and cost estimate. Many orthodontic offices also offer payment plans to help make treatment more affordable for patients.
Are there alternatives to traditional braces?
Yes, there are alternatives to traditional braces such as Invisalign, clear aligners, and lingual braces. These options offer more discreet and comfortable orthodontic treatment while still effectively straightening teeth. It's best to consult with an orthodontist to determine the most suitable option for your specific needs.
How to manage orthodontic emergencies?
In case of orthodontic emergencies, contact your orthodontist immediately. For temporary relief, use orthodontic wax for loose brackets or wires. If a wire is poking, try to push it back with a pencil eraser. Rinse with warm saltwater for soreness. Avoid hard or sticky foods.
Do braces guarantee perfect teeth alignment?
Braces do not guarantee perfect teeth alignment, but they are effective in correcting misalignments. Results vary based on individual factors. Consistent follow-up care and adherence to orthodontic recommendations are crucial for optimal outcomes. Regular dental visits post-braces are essential for maintaining alignment.
Whats the impact of braces on speech?
Braces may initially affect speech due to adjustments in mouth positioning. Speech may improve as the mouth adapts to braces. Speech therapy can help address any temporary speech changes during orthodontic treatment. Proper care and regular adjustments can minimize speech impact.
How to choose braces colors?
When choosing braces colors, consider your personality, skin tone, and desired look. Bright colors can make a statement, while neutral tones blend in. Coordinate with your outfits or opt for your favorite colors. Consult with your orthodontist for guidance on color options that suit you best.
Can braces fix overcrowded teeth?
Yes, braces can fix overcrowded teeth by gradually shifting them into proper alignment. Orthodontic treatment, including braces, can effectively address overcrowding issues, creating a straighter and more aesthetically pleasing smile over time. Consult with an orthodontic specialist for personalized treatment options.
Are clear aligners better than braces?
Clear aligners are a popular alternative to traditional braces for straightening teeth. They are removable, nearly invisible, and often more comfortable. However, braces may be more effective for complex cases. Consult with an orthodontist to determine the best option for your specific needs.
How do braces affect oral hygiene?
Braces can impact oral hygiene by making it more challenging to clean teeth thoroughly. Food particles can get trapped, leading to plaque buildup and potential gum issues. Regular brushing, flossing, and using tools like interdental brushes or water flossers are crucial for maintaining good oral hygiene while wearing braces.
What foods to avoid with braces?
When wearing braces, it's best to avoid sticky, hard, or chewy foods to prevent damage. Foods to avoid include: Hard candies Popcorn Nuts Chewy candies Ice Hard pretzels Sticky or hard chocolate
How does orthodontic insurance work?
Orthodontic insurance typically covers a percentage of the cost of orthodontic treatment, such as braces or Invisalign, up to a specified lifetime maximum. Patients may need to meet a deductible and adhere to any waiting periods or pre-authorization requirements. It's essential to check with the insurance provider for specific coverage details and limitations.
Are retainers necessary after braces?
Retainers are necessary after braces to maintain the new alignment of teeth. They help prevent teeth from shifting back to their original positions. It's crucial to wear retainers as directed by the orthodontist to ensure long-lasting results and a stable smile.
How to prepare for getting braces?
To prepare for getting braces, follow these steps: Attend a consultation to discuss treatment options. Prepare for dietary changes by stocking up on soft foods. Practice good oral hygiene habits. Consider any adjustments to your daily routine. Discuss any concerns with your orthodontist.
Can orthodontic work cause pain?
Orthodontic work can cause discomfort or soreness as the teeth adjust, but it should not be severe. Pain can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers and wax for braces. Contact your orthodontist if pain persists.
What is the success rate of braces?
The success rate of braces varies depending on individual cases, but generally, braces are highly effective in correcting misaligned teeth and bite issues. Compliance with treatment, proper oral hygiene, and regular follow-up appointments contribute to successful outcomes. Bridge City Braces has a track record of achieving excellent results for patients of all ages.
